Technology Blog #2: Building Your Connected Learning Community
Chapter 6 of the Connected Educator explains how teachers are able to build a strong, communal learning environment by making connections with other educators online. Using different tools like social media, blogs, and professional learning networks, they can connect, share ideas, provide support to one another, collaborate, and ask questions. This chapter highlights the fact that it's not about having a huge network, but rather a more meaningful one with strong connections and people who share similar goals and passions. This allows teachers to grow professionally, learn, be supported, and stay updated and informed on new teaching strategies.

Participation is key in these communities for growth. Teachers should be contributing by posting, commenting, and sharing their own personal strategies for the classroom. Also, it is important to choose connections carefully and to focus on those offering valuable insights and resources. This helps educators improve their own skills by a lot and also create a network which provides support and inspiration to themselves and others.
This chapter relates to not just my potential field, but to any. Working in any field, it is important to stay up-to-date, receive support and advice, learn and grow from others' experience, learn new problem-solving skills, etc. This can even apply to those who are not yet in the workforce, but have passions for certain things. You can always learn from others and having support is important. Chapter 6 shows that learning is not something that ends after school is over, but rather something that continues through relationships and collaboration and staying connected in uplifting and informative communities.
